Regional Honor Band Auditions

Posted by Tamadrum - November 9th, 2008

So i've been preparing two different snare pieces (There the same for everyone) for this audition to get into the regional honor band, which includes people from about 1/4 of Kansas. And I get there, after spending countless hours working on BOTH of pieces.

I am then informed that we, for time purposes, will only be playing a section from one of them... While the 40+ snare drummers there were all under the impression that we would be preforming both. The people who ran the auditions ended cutting out the harder, more challenging piece and had us play the easier one. This made me slightly angry, seeing as how it was no way fair to anyone who was at the audition.

But my angers were soon to be erased... I left after my audition was finished to get something for lunch, knowing that it would take some hours for them to process everything and make their descisions. Upon returning, I found that I had gotten Second Chair out of the highest level band there was available!

This means I will be preforming with this high level concert band in December, and I will audition for the State band in Janurary... And if I get into that, that is when the colleges will really start to look at me for scholarships and such... I am estatic!
